Christian Distinctiveness

Religious Education

At Fletching CE Primary School we follow the East Sussex agreed syllabus for RE, ‘A Journey of Discovery’ and plan engaging and inspiring lessons.

We ensure pupils learn about a range of religions and they learn about the key events in the Christian Calendar.

Here are some photos from recent RE units.

Class Reflection Areas

In each of our classrooms we have a ‘Reflection Area’ which asks questions and prompts us to reflect on our own life and the life of others.

Here are a few of the reflection areas we have been using this year.

Collective Worship

We enjoy daily collective worship – spending time together to learn about Jesus, sing hymns, listen to bible readings, pray and reflect. Collective worship usually takes place in the school hall but also takes place in classrooms, outside, in the Spiritual Space and fornightly in church.

We pray at different times during the school day and in different places. Prayer allows us speak to God.

Each class has a Prayer Book which pupils add their own prayers to regularly.

Year 5&6 recently attended church for a special service so they could pray for the families of people who had lost loved ones in the Manchester Arena bombing and for the victims of the attack.

Father Brian

We are very lucky to have Father Brian as our Priest and pupils and staff enjoy spending time with him both in school and in Church.

Arctic Fox and Polar Bear children completed an art project which encouraged them to reflect on biblical events and relate them to their own lives through the use of art.
