At Fletching CE Primary School we follow the East Sussex agreed syllabus for RE, ‘A Journey of Discovery’, and plan engaging and inspiring lessons. We ensure pupils learn about a range of religions and they learn about the key events in the Christian Calendar. Our new school values tree incorporates our Christian values and these are rooted in verses from the Bible. Our Faith Council meets regularly with Ali Brown who is the brilliant new Families and Children Worker for Fletching Parish church and they enjoy taking an active role in our Collective Worship. We also have a fortnightly lunchtime club for children, where they can learn more about what it means to follow Jesus through craft activities and chatter. Here are some photos from recent RE units.
Class Reflection Areas
In each of our classrooms we have a ‘Reflection Area’ which asks questions and prompts us to reflect on our own life and the life of others. Here are some of the reflection areas we have been using this year.
We enjoy daily collective worship – spending time together to learn about Jesus, sing hymns, listen to Bible readings, pray and reflect. Collective worship usually takes place in the school hall, but can take place in classrooms, outside in our living willow dome, as well as in Fletching Parish Church.
We pray at different times during the school day and in different places. Prayer allows us time to speak and to listen to God. Each class has a Prayer Book to which pupils can add their own prayers.
We are blessed to have Father Brian as our Priest and pupils and staff enjoy spending time with him both in school and in Church. We attend a special service in the church on alternate Wednesdays.
