Our topic this term is Far Away and Long Ago!

This term we will be learning all about dragons, fairy tales and castles! In the first weeks of term we will be focusing on dragons. We will be creating our own exciting dragons and writing lots of descriptive pieces all about our adventures on our dragon. In the second half of the term we will be learning all about the different parts of a castle and those who live inside them. We will also be reading lots of fairy tales and learning all about Rapunzel.

Class Dojo

Reception Parents only

This year we will be using Class Dojo to keep you connected with your child’s learning and upcoming events. You have been given a letter with your child’s code to join our class page. All you need to do is download the App and register as a parent (instructions are on the letter).

We encourage you to upload your own photographs of home learning and any experiences you would like to share with us and the rest of the class.

If you’re having trouble getting connected or have any questions then please feel free to pop in and ask.

 

Reading

Read with your child as often as you can but a minimum of 4 times a week. Please sign your child’s reading record when you have read and we will change their reading book. If your child is in Reception, now is a great time to set up or continue your reading routine and enjoy sharing a book together. Stuck for a good book? Spellings – Year 1 and 2 only

Spelling tests for Year 1 and year 2 will take place every Tuesday. New spellings will be added to their spelling homework books.The children will be taught these spellings each week in school but should continue to practise at home. Each of the spelling lists contain a particular spelling pattern included in the Year 1 and 2 National Curriculum.They will also include a number of common exception words.  

Times tables  – Year 2 only

We have now started learning our times tables. Please use your times table books to know which level your child is currently working on.
